Journal Question: What did you see today that surprised you?

IMG_8785.HEIC

Today we very interesting we toured two museums and I am normally very against museums, I find them to be really boring. So, I was expecting that today would be no different. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the first museum we went to.

Gordon's Pathology Museum is unlike anything I have ever experienced, and I'm sure I never will experience something quite like it again. Inside this exclusive to medical students museum the walls are lined with specimen. The truly unique thing about these specimen is that you can pick them up!

Once you pick up a specimen you can turn to these booklets on the table that explain what you are holding. Some specimen have patient information written about them as well, so you could see their story. The bone fractures section was my favorite because we got to hold the specimen and the book showed the x-ray! It was really special to be able to view in detail a fracture since we see people come in with them all the time.

Unfortunately we couldn't take any photographs, so the experience will just have to be a memory. I will say that the experience made me very thankful that I came on the trip. I've been struggling this last semester a lot with if I am really happy with the career choice that I made. There have been a lot of boundaries that I have been facing and a lot of burnout. I was getting in my head a lot and this museum reignited my passion for radiography and all of the possibilities that come with it!
